Pandora's box - final college assignment

My Final Assignment – 2024

My college class is officially over. Hurray! Honestly, I think I took on too much this semester. It’s hard to work a full-time job and do five to 10 hours of homework every week.

I had to submit three pieces for my final assignment of the semester. The first piece needed to have a theme of mythology and use all the different skills we learned throughout the course. I chose Pandora’s box as the topic of my piece and used charcoal to draw it. In this piece, I applied patterns, white space, the rule of thirds, contour lines, two-point perspective, and values. I had to look online for inspiration to figure out what a woman in Greek attire looked like. I think I did my best given the time I had.

The other two pieces were self-portraits using charcoal. One looked OK, and the other looked nothing like me at all! Still, I want to give myself a pat on the back for the effort I put into both pieces.

I decided not to sign up for another college-level art course since it was difficult to manage the weekly homework assignments. However, I like the accountability that comes with taking a graded course and interacting with other students. Next year, I’m considering going back to my half-finished Udemy drawing course and completing it. Happy drawing!
